Parent Volunteer Requirement Agreement

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

The Torpedoes Swim Team is a parent-run organization that requires each immediate family to meet the point requirement. For 2024 each family must gain 12 points; anticipate working Time Trials, regular Meets, and post-season Meets. "Immediate family" is defined as siblings and thier parents. Multi-family homes (multiple sets of siblings with multiple sets of parents) will be counted as multiple family entities for volunteer purposes. It takes over 100 parent volunteers to run a successful meet, so we need every family to participate! If your child participates in Meet of Champions or All Stars, you will be required to volunteer at those meets as well.

HOW TO BE A VOLUNTEER

Check this website's calendar for this season's Time Trials (2), Swim Meets (5), Meet of Champoints (1), and All Stars (1).

Specific timing information for each meet is emailed and posted on our website before the meet.  Times vary for home and away meets and are normally Monday evenings.

Any adult member (18 & over) of your family may volunteer at our meets and work towards your immediate family's point requirement.  Multi-family households will not be counted together to meet the volunteer requirement. A few jobs, like Stroke Judge, Starter, and Meet Director, require in-person training, but most of our jobs are easily learned from our experienced volunteers or from our website.  Some example jobs:  Timers, Scribes, Awards, Data Entry, Set-up/Takedown, Announcers, Ready Bench,  Age Group Marshals, Awards, Runners, and Stroke Judges.

As you plan, remember that you may volunteer for both halves of the same meet, and/or you can have more than one volunteer from your immediate  family work during the same half-meet shift, filling separate volunteer jobs.  Please note that each adult volunteer will need to have their name included under your profile in this system with a valid email address and phone number or they won't be able to sign up for a slot.

BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENT

Tent parent colunteers are required to complete a background check per posted directions.

• Background checks need only be accomplished once every three (3) years.

• Coaches that are 18 and over, paid and not paid, must submit a background check every year.

• Board of Directors of Team must submit a background check every three (3) years.

VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT & NEXT YEAR REGISTRATION

The Torpedoes require a $250 volunteer guarantee deposit per family and will pre-approve your credit card for this amount at the time of registration.  However, the team would much rather have your time and commitment than your money.  The deposit is NOT a buyout option.  Your credit card hold will be retained and processed for payment after the end of the season if your immediated family does not meet the volunteer shift requirement.

If a family fails to sign up for and complete their required volunteer shifts, the Torpedoes reserve the right to restrict your swimmer(s) from swimming in the the current season, including practices and meets.  Additionally, families who do not complete their required volunteer shifts will be restricted from returning next season.

I have read this statement and agree to meet the regular season volunteer requirement and Meet of Champoins / All Stars if my child participates. I agree to sign up for volunteer jobs by the published deadline, show up on-time, and complete each volunteer shift.

Torpedoes Swim Team's Code of Conduct

NEW TERRITORY TORPEDOES SWIM TEAM’S CODE OF CONDUCT

Swimming on the New Territory Torpedoes Swim Team can be great fun for everybody. However, we must remember that with so many swimmers and only a few supervising adults and coaches, everyone must cooperate. This CODE OF CONDUCT exists to maintain order and above all, safety, at all practices and swim meets. Parents should review the code with their swimmer together and discuss its points to ensure that each swimmer is aware of his/her responsibilities - and the consequences of not following any point of the code (see #10 below).

1. Swimmers are to be respectful and obedient to those in authority. This includes coaches, marshals, and other parent helpers at the swim practices and meets.

2. Foul, abusive, or otherwise unseemly language will not be tolerated at any time.

3. All pool safety rules SHALL BE followed during and after practices.

4. Swimmers SHALL NEVER enter the pool until instructed to do so by the coaches.

5. Unruly behavior such as pushing, fighting, running, or dunking WILL NOT be tolerated.

6. The swim team is for having fun; BUT when the coaches require your attention - listen.

7. Each swimmer/parent will be financially responsible for damages to any pool or swim team equipment at the practice or meet facilities.

8. DO NOT walk on top of the walls at the Club pool. We have had injuries due to children balancing and walking along the narrow edge of the wall.

9. During swim meets and practices, all participants and spectators are forbidden to go within two feet of the “baby pool”.

10. Swimmers not able to follow the CODE OF CONDUCT will be disciplined. Disciplinary action shall be at the discretion of the coaches or the swim team board, and may include suspension from practices, meets, or if necessary, from the team for the remainder of the season - without any refund of fees.

I agree to the points outlined above.

2)  Child must not be afraid to enter the water;

3)  Child must be able to follow directions; and

4)  Child must be able to swim across the 25-yd pool by the 1-week mark.

If it is determined that your swimmer will not be able to meet these requirements by Time Trials, your registration fee will be partially refunded (minus a $65 fee) via check.

New Territory Residential Community Association, Inc. Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

New Territory Residential Community Association, Inc.

Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

The coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic and is believed to be spread mainly through person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments, as well as federal and state health agencies, recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, limited or prohibited the congregation of groups of people. New Territory Residential Community Association, Inc. (“NTRCA”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, NTRCA cannot guarantee that you or your participants will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, visiting NTRCA’s common areas such as the community pools and other facilities (collectively, the “Common Areas”) could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19. By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by visiting the Common Areas and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the Common Areas may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, NTRCA’s employees, agents, contractors, vendors, volunteers, and other visitors and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my or my child(ren)’s presence at the Common Areas and facilities, or participation in any programming at NTRCA’s facilities (“Claims”). In addition, I also agree that I will not knowingly allow me, my family, or my invitees to go the NTRCA’s Common Areas if we are sick, have a fever, suspect we have COVID-19, or know we have been exposed to COVID 19. On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless NTRCA, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of NTRCA, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after visiting the Common Areas or participation in any Association activities.
