Torpedoes Volunteering Information, Meets, Athlete Protection Cetification, COVID Waiver,

Greetings Torpedoes Families!

Time for another volunteer update. We are
quickly approaching time trials and transition to the summer schedule. Please
note the important upcoming dates and times. Also, we have decreased the number of volunteer shifts each family will be required. Look for that information below. I have attached a list of all volunteers who have completed the Darkness to Lightness training and have received a certification from the WHALe League as of yesterday May 11th at 11:59 pm. If your name is not on this list your swimmer will not be allowed to swim starting May 17th. ALL Volunteers must complete this training which is required by the WHALe League by Monday, May 16th at 10:30 pm.

If you have been certified but are not on this list please reply to this email and let me know. You can send me a screenshot of your certificate. You may have registered under a different name and I may not have been able to match your name with what is in our Swimtopia Team system.

Meets & Volunteering

Meets
will be held in June. We will be competing in dual meets this season just like
pre-covid seasons. Our first two swim meets will be “HOME” meets held on Saturday
mornings, June 4th and June 11th at our pool. It’s going to be an early morning! The last
two meets are “AWAY” meets. Each week the league will update the “top times”
for all swimmers. We will have a Meet of Champions for our Division on June 28th
at Jordan High School. All Stars will be held on July 1st for those who
qualify.

While
swim team is a GREAT place to improve kids’ swimming abilities, we are also a
competitive club, meaning we participate in meets. Families are expected to
participate in the meets – this helps out our relays and helps meets run
smoothly with volunteers. If you need to miss a meet, no problem, just make
sure to declare online or tell a coach.

Volunteering is required! We could not offer the program without
volunteers. Please make sure that you have signed up for your volunteer
assignments. More information about each job is available in the “volunteer”
tab of the website and the “i” button next to the sign up position (on pc).
Email us if you have questions or need help.

Decreasing Volunteer Shifts

Many Thanks to all of you who have signed up for shifts! Your
involvement helps make swim meets possible and run smoothly. After our initial Volunteer
Job opening day, we have decided to reduce the shifts to 4 shifts per family. We
still have families who need shifts.

Please visit the Schedule > Swim Meets
and Events Page
. This is the place
where you’ll RSVP for events, declare your swimmer for each meet, and sign up
for volunteer jobs. Each Meet will have a “Job Sign Up” link.

Here you can release a shift or sign up for a
shift. Please make sure you are signing up for 4 shifts per family. I see some overachievers
who have signed up for 6-10 shifts. Please release those shifts for other
families.

This year we will also need a few volunteers
to help us run the weekly Popsicle Fridays and weekly coach breakfast. These jobs are
Fridays during practice.

  • The volunteer who signs up for Popsicle Friday will be responsible to bring the ice pops
in a cooler and passing them out to the swimmers as they get done with practice.
  • The volunteer who signs up for Coach
breakfast will be responsible for bringing the breakfast items. Please bring
breakfast items before the first swim practice which is at 7 am in June.

You will find the sign-up for these jobs
listed in the “Swim Meets and Events” tab under an event labeled with that week’s
practice.
