Volunteer Sign Ups Open TOMORROW at 8am

Volunteer Shift Sign Up Opens Saturday May 30th @ 8:00 AM

Get ready, get set, Go Sign up for Volunteer shifts! The sign up for shifts will be open on the website at www.swimnt.org this Saturday at 8:00am.

First time? Don’t worry, information about each job is in the description section of each sign up.  Many jobs are also described in the "Volunteer" Tab of the website.

If you choose a job that includes direct contact with swimmers (Marshalls primarily), this is where you’ll also find the link to the SHRSL Background Screening that is required by the league. Please let us know if you have questions on what is expected from each role. Keep an eye out for emails from our volunteer coordinators regarding training and background checks.

Once you’ve determined what you might like to do, visit the Schedule > Swim Meets and Events Page. This is the place where you’ll RSVP for events, declare your swimmer for each meet, and sign up for volunteer jobs. Each Meet will have a “Job Sign Up” link.

You’ll be able to sign up any adults registered on your account. Remember: to get credit for volunteer shifts, EVERY person volunteering for you should be registered with their own login.

Once you select the person you’re signing up, just select the available job you’d like to sign up for and save the selection.

This year we will also need a few volunteers to help us run practices. These jobs will be assigned weekly and be worth 2 “shifts” instead of 1. These jobs are mainly age group walkers (to help the little ones to and from cars) and a restroom monitor. You will also find the sign up for these jobs listed in the “Swim Meets and Events” tab under an event labelled with that weeks’ practice.

Due to the reduced need for volunteers, we are reducing the shift requirements by 1 – from 5 to 4 shifts per family. If you have more than one swimmer, you may be asked to work 1 additional shift if there are gaps. We are also not splitting the meets up into first and second “half”. Each meet will count as 1 shift due how quickly the meet will run with a small team, no visiting team, and no relays.

Make sure that you’re signed up for a total of 4 shifts per family (not per swimmer – that’s just crazy :P) , Stroke Judges should attend the zoom clinic if they have never done stroke judging before.

In past years, we’ve been able to offer a “shift buy-out” option. Due to the nature of the pandemic restrictions, we will be unable to offer that option this year. If you are struggling to meet your volunteer shift requirements, please reach out to us and we can help find something that works for you. There are several jobs that require mostly “at home” work or are limited to the practice times only.

Once you’re all signed up, you’ll be able to see these shifts in your account. If you download the swimtopia app from the App Store, you’ll be able to use your Torpedoes login credentials to view your events and shifts as well as receive push alerts regarding practices, cancellations and other important information.

Phew! That’s it folks – please reach out at any time with questions. We’re here to help!

Thank you for your help in making this season successful for all of our swimmers. Swim team cannot occur without all of our volunteers. Please be patient with us on how some of these new “jobs” work – we’ll be figuring it out at the same time you are. We welcome your comments, suggestions, and help!
